North Alabama and the Shoals are home to four great fishing lakes - Guntersville, Wheeler, Wilson and Pickwick. These lakes are part of the stair stepping chain of lakes on the Tennessee River which flows through North Alabama.  The Tennessee River and these great sports fishing lakes make the North Alabama area a mecca for anglers who love to catch trophy smallmouth and largemouth. These waters also provide good fishing for crappie, spotted bass, striped bass, hybrid, sauger, bluegill, and catfish. Recent articles in In-Fishermen and Bassmaster publications predict that Pickwick Lake will produce the next world record smallmouth.
